earlier today, i saw my "memoirs of a geisha" book that my dad gave me when i was in my last year in high school.
i re-read several quotes from the novel that i think everyone should learn from...
"...some girls are smart and some are stupid," Chapter 4 pg. 53
"You should have told me sooner what a pretty girl you brought with you. Her eyes...they're the color of a mirror!" Chapter 5 p.g.60
"You hate anyone more successful than you." Chapter6 p.g.76
"But to learn in a single moment that both my mother and my father had died and left me, and that my sister too was lost to me forever...at once my mind felt like a broken vase that would not stand. I was lost even within the room around me." Chapter 8 p.g.103
"...we can never flee the misery that is within us," Chapter 9 p.g.106
"In that brief encounter with the Chairman, I had changed from a lost girl facing a lifetime of emptiness to a girl with purpose in her life." Chapter 9 p.g.113
“Whatever our struggles and triumphs, however we may suffer them, all too soon they bleed into a wash…just like watery ink on paper…”
have a great evening everyone!
...
look back:
i didn't feel particularly well for this day because i have colds and i'm coming up with a slight fever.
i want to thank the following people who made me feel less sick through their efforts of showing that they care, even though i looked like i wanted to shut the rest of the world out earlier today..
>nicolette--she hugged me and said, "why are you sad mommie chai?it's gonna be alright..." thank you colette! you're an angel.
>teresa--in the middle of math class, she gave me a note that said, "hi chai, why are you so quiet?i miss your noise..." thank you sweetie. i appreciated the hugs.lovelove.
>lou--sabi niya kasi it was unusual to see me quiet.kapatid, salamat sa concern. sana bukas okay na ako.
>jam.tart.raynette.kirby.--they all asked if i was okay, and that meant a lot.:) thank you guys. i love you all.
>maritess! (aka menggay)--well, hindi niya nahalata na tahimik ako today pero she made me laugh anyway.lalove meng.:)<3
see?the small things we usually take for granted are often the things that most people remember and appreciate.
sana lahat ng tao ganito.appreciative.
